This photograph was a collaboration with my friend Brian. One of my early composite. He shot the background, because that’s what he likes doing, he likes going into asylums or abandoned buildings and shooting urban decay. I shot the model at a different location and they I superimposed both images. This is the image that won my early exhibition at the City of Federal Way, which was exciting. And this was after my exhibit at a another gallery in Seattle.
The thought behind this piece: this ghost is from a recent past, not from a long time ago. I assume that the Asylum that my friend photographed is has not been abandoned for a long time. He mentioned that there were still old records on the floor. It makes me wonder what used to go on there and what happened. Why was the place abandoned like that? Files and supplies were still there, what was so bad that the people that were working there just seemed to have abandoned it? What do you think?
